THE COACH

Jon-Eric Fountain

From a complete novice on track to Time Trial Season Champion in just 18 months. Now coaching drivers at Motorsport Ranch Cresson.

THE STORY

I built this because I wanted to get better — and got obsessed with what actually makes a driver fast.

In just 18 months, I went from a complete novice on track to becoming a Time Trial Season Champion. Strong driving results don’t automatically equate to great coaching, but there are many areas where the two intersect. The ability to feel the car, use soft and subtle inputs, understand the value of vision, and adapt in real time to changing conditions all translate directly into how I teach.

To date, my coaching has helped over eight advanced and time trial drivers achieve personal best lap times in fewer than two sessions. I’ve also been able to rapidly accelerate lap times for novice and intermediate drivers — achieving in a single day what most experience in six months to a year of driving.

BEFORE THE TRACK

Two decades developing athletes.

Before entering the world of performance driving, my professional background was in strength and conditioning, physical therapy, and massage therapy. I worked with athletes at every level — from high school competitors to professionals, and dedicated “weekend warriors.”

That career taught me how to truly develop an individual: how to assess where someone is, how they learn, how to communicate effectively, and how to meet them exactly where they are in their journey.

THE PHILOSOPHY

What coaching means here.

  1. 01

    We accelerate understanding.

  2. 02

We shorten the gap between experience and awareness.

  3. 03

We help people recognize what reality has been trying to teach them all along.

WHAT I BRING

The track record.

  • Over 20 years training elite athletes
  • SCCA Time Trial Season Champion
  • Eight advanced drivers to personal bests in under two sessions
  • Background in strength & conditioning, physical therapy, massage therapy
Coaching is my passion and my calling. I live to empower and inspire others — to help them build confidence, develop skill, and believe in what they’re capable of achieving, both on and off the track.
